Rotary Foundation: The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.
The Rotary Foundation helps fund our humanitarian activities, from local service projects to global initiatives. Your club or district can apply for grants from the Foundation to invest in projects and provide scholarships. Funds contributed by Rotarians are invested for three years and a percentage then comes back to the District Foundation from which each club may solicit matching grant funds for special projects which qualify under RI and District guidelines. The Foundation also leads the charge on worldwide Rotary campaigns such as eradicating polio and promoting peace. Rotarians and friends of Rotary support the Foundation’s work through voluntary contributions. The Board of Trustees manages the business of the Foundation, led by the trustee chair. The Rotary International president-elect nominates the trustees, who are elected by the Rotary International Board of Directors. The trustee chair serves for one year and trustees serve for four years.
The Gundaker Foundation, Inc.: This non-profit corporation of District 7450, established in 1964, recognizes the lifelong accomplishments of Guy Gundaker, a charter member of the Rotary Club of Philadelphia and President of Rotary International during 1923-1924. A charitable arm of our District, the Gundaker Foundation provides matching grants for the projects of clubs within the District and funds selected district programs. The Gundaker Foundation is a valuable and unique asset, serving the Rotary Clubs in our District. We are one of the few Rotary Districts –worldwide—to have its own charitable foundation. Its purposes complement those of the Rotary Foundation. Whereas, the Rotary Foundation primarily supports projects of an international scope, the Gundaker Foundation focuses mainly on supporting the local efforts of clubs in District 7450. Since its inception, the Gundaker Foundation has raised and distributed over $2 million. Approximately 80% of all funds distributed by Gundaker remain within our District.
All Rotary Members in our District are heartily encouraged to make annual contributions to the Gundaker Foundation. Once contributions reach the $1,000 level, that member becomes a Guy Gundaker Fellow. Additional levels of recognition are outlined as “Levels of Sustaining Gundaker Membership.”: Gundaker is also a recognized agency of the United Way. United Way contributions can be targeted to Gundaker, Agency 9315. All contributions to the Gundaker Foundation are tax deductible.
The Purpose of the Gundaker Foundation

aspects of life in a different country on a personal basis.

Paul Harris Fellowship: Individuals who have contributed more than $1000 to the Annual Program Fund, the Polio Plus Fund or the Humanitarian Grants Program of the Rotary Foundation are recognized as Paul Harris Fellows. Additionally, individual Rotary clubs may from time to time honor individuals as Paul Harris Fellows. These honorees are individuals who meet high professional and personal standards set forth by Paul Harris. Paul Harris recognition is not limited to Rotarians. A Paul Harris Fellow receives a special certificate and a gold pin. At the discretion of the Fellow's club, the Fellow may also receive a gold medallion on a blue-and-gold ribbon. Multiple-time Paul Harris Fellows are recognized as they continue to contribute. Additionally, Paul Harris Fellows receive recognition points which they may contribute towards the recognition of other members as Paul Harris Fellows. [
The Paul Harris Society is a special program administered by Rotary Districts. Paul Harris Society members make a commitment to contribute $1000 each year to the Annual Program Fund. A Paul Harris Society member receives a "hanger" for their Paul Harris Fellow Pin with the initials PHS.
Every Rotarian, Every Year (EREY). ?The Rotary Foundation enables clubs all over the world to develop and accomplish self-sustaining projects that change lives and change the world for the better. When you support The Rotary Foundation‘s Every Rotarian, Every Year initiative ($100.00 donation each year), you personally help fund one of those life-changing projects. ?Our world is filled with conflict and strife, but I believe that fundamentally, people are more alike than they are different. The underlying causes of most of the conflict and strife are poverty, disease, hunger, and illiteracy. The work of The Rotary Foundation addresses all of these critical needs. ?The Rotary Foundation enables our clubs and districts to multiply their service efforts many times over. This effect is increasing as the Foundation‘s humanitarian grant projects become larger in scale to profoundly improve the lives of more people.
Annual Fund Raising Programs – Each year KOP Rotary holds an annual fund raising campaign for the 3 key foundations listed above, KOP Rotary Foundation, The Rotary Foundation, and Gundaker Foundation.
