KOP Rotary and “Public Relations”
Below is an excerpt from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
What is Public Relations? PRSA's Widely Accepted Definition
“Public relations is a strategic communication process that builds mutually beneficial relationships between organizations and their publics.”
Simple and straightforward, this definition focuses on the basic concept of public relations — as a communication process, one that is strategic in nature and emphasizing “mutually beneficial relationships.”
KOP Rotary has stepped up its “public relations” effort in many ways to reach the community, both locally and on a broader scale to publicize who we are and what we do as a service organization. In today’s world, I suspect that the above definition encompasses a wide array of “attention getting” vehicles, our local press, electronic social media, networking, our District 7450 newsletter, KOP Rotary’s Krown Prints monthly newsletter, our club’s website and our Facebook Page.
We have been fortunate to have members whose skills in this area have been instrumental in getting our club’s activities before the public. Add to this the club’s much-publicized and successful fund raising events, our annual Taste of the Suburbs and Golf Outing events as well as other community outreach programs, our scholarship and scholastic literacy programs, interrelationships with the King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company, our Upper Merion Police department, we are well recognized within our demographic area. As an example of how we are progressing, below is an PR release from Renata Maslowski, our current PR chairperson: (Reformatted for this Rotary 101 Section)
